This week’s Fashion Forecast has us travelling to the middle of Canada, as we take a look at the weather this weekend in Winnipeg. With mainly sunny skies, only a 20-per-cent chance of precipitation, and a temperature that feels like 32°C, it seems that Winnipeggers are in for a bit of a heat wave for the remainder of August.

The tricky part about this is that many of us have already started mapping out our fall wardrobes. So, what to wear when its hot and hazy outside, but you’ve got fall’s coolest boots and bags on the brain?

To start, make sure any pieces you’re picking up are versatile enough that you’ll be able to get some wear out of them while the summer sun’s still shining. This chambray shirt from Topshop is ideal for adapting to a range of weather conditions with its mid-weight fabric and easily rolled sleeves.

Wear undone for a relaxed, beachy look, or buttoned up to the collar for a fall-appropriate outfit. We’ve paired it with a pleated leather mini from Alice + Olivia for our take on schoolgirl chic, which is always an essential style this time of year.

For footwear, one of our most coveted styles of the season is the iconic Chelsea Boot. This pair from Michael Kors has a perfectly sculpted silhouette and is detailed with gold polished metal hardware for a dose of downtown cool. Team them up with floral dresses as you begin to transition out of your summer wardrobe, and move into wearing them with skinny jeans and a moto jacket come fall. Speaking of which, this Rebecca Minkoff Perry moto bag is an excellent candidate if you’re in the market for a new bag, sporting a rich hunter-green shade (primed to become one of fall’s newest neutrals).

When it comes to accessorizing, a circle scarf is a great option to have on hand if the air gets crisp when the sun goes down. Pacsun’s cheetah infinity scarf is a perfect way to inject a punch of print into any monochromatic ensemble. And, in keeping with the feline inspiration, these cat-eyed sunnies from Elizabeth and James are sure to add a hit of glamour to any outfit, whether you're wearing cutoffs or a cool-weather coat.
