Damaging winds whip through southern Alberta
Tuesday, October 1, 2013, 8:48 AM -
A low pressure system moved through Alberta on Monday bringing damaging winds to some places.
At Lethbridge airport, winds were clocked at 115 km/h.
Officials say toppled trees crashed into a number of parked vehicles, as well as a truck that was being driven by a woman. The woman was able to escape her vehicle uninjured.
Power was also knocked out in some areas, but has since been restored.
On Sunday, strong winds complicated fire response efforts as crews battled a large grass fire near Coalhurst.
Police believe farm equipment may have sparked the fire, but no injuries or damage to buildings were reported.
