Powerful windstorm causes damage, power outages
Monday, October 16, 2017, 6:13 AM - More than 15,000 people are still without power across southern Ontario Monday morning in the wake of Sunday afternoon's vicious windstorm.
That's down from the peak Sunday night, when some 65,000 customers across the region were reported to be in the dark.
Temperatures in Toronto dropped 6 degrees in one hour as the cold front cut through around 3 p.m. Sunday, whipping the city with wind gusts in excess of 100 km/h. London also recorded gusts to 104 km/h; by comparison, the minimum sustained wind speed for a category 1 hurricane is 119 km/h.
Significant damage was reported across southern Ontario. See some of the images of the storm as it blew through - and of the clean up ahead - below.
