The Monday evening for Ontarians will be defined by wet weather, with temperatures taking a dip to feel much like fall.

Chilly week ahead for Ontario

Monday, September 15, 2014, 8:23 AM - If you didn't like this past weekend's cool temperatures in Ontario, expect no relief for a few days.

A below-seasonal week is just getting underway, and its first day will be crowned with showers in time for the home commute.

The rain arrives in the Nickel Belt by the afternoon, moving through to the Greater Toronto Area by evening.

"It could arrive earlier for places like Barrie and the Huron Shores, and is expected to move into Montreal by the overnight," Weather Network meteorologist Brett Soderholm said Monday morning.

But this will be no deluge, with only the Niagara region and parts of eastern Ontario on track for more than 5 mm.

This week, it's the chilly temperatures that will be the real story.

The weekend was devoid of temperatures above 20oC, and on Monday, early morning conditions were definitely in the single digits.

And it'll be awhile before it gets much warmer, with a cold front pushing down into the south from northern Ontario by Wednesday evening, bringing even lower temperatures in its wake.

By Thursday, Toronto's forecast high is only around 14oC, well below seasonal.

The passing front may spark some showers, although too north to impact the GTA as it moves to eastern Ontario and Montreal.

The good news is, Thursday will be the week's low point, temperature-wise. By the weekend, temperatures will recover back up to more or less seasonal levels, with forecast highs in the low 20s by Saturday.
