Brief warm up coming to southern Ontario

Tuesday, January 13, 2015, 6:50 PM - There appears to be some relief in the forecast for people tired of the bone-chilling temperatures that have settled into southern Ontario this past week.
"The warm up we have been seeing in the Prairies will begin to make its way into southern Ontario," says Weather Network meteorologist Kelly Sonnenburg.
The ridge that's over the west coast is slated to make its way further east, breaking down as it migrates. That will set the stage for temperatures above the freezing mark across the region starting on Saturday.

Milder temperatures won't stick around for long, though, with the weather falling back to near-seasonal levels the following week.
It's been a long bout of cold weather across much of Canada. Southern Ontario is currently experiencing its ninth consecutive day with temperatures below zero degrees Celsius.
