SNOW, BLOWING SNOW LINGER IN THE EAST
Manitoba will be the focus for light to moderate snow through early Sunday morning, with 20+ cm in total expected across the Interlake regions and close to 10 cm for the capital by the time all's said and done. Gusty winds through early Sunday morning will also make blowing snow an issue, and could make for some tricky travel conditions with reduced visibility at times.
COLD AIR DESCENDS FOR LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER
After a mild spell, temperatures are trending down through the weekend and are expected to bottom out below seasonal on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with wind chills making it feel like the -20s in much of Manitoba, including Winnipeg. Further west, the cold won't be as harsh, but highs will still be well below seasonal for most, running 5 to 10 degrees below the average through Christmas day, and taking a further dip later in the week. Heading into New Year's Eve, expect high temperatures in the minus teens for most of the region.
