In October 2015, there was an extratropical storm that joined forces with Hurricane Joaquin to bring catastrophic flooding to South Carolina.

The storm brought an overwhelming about of rain to South Carolina. The downpour caused multiple rivers to burst their banks, washing away roads, bridges, vehicles, and homes.

There was as much as 615 mm of rain accumulated in areas across the state. In a 24-hour period, 290 mm of rain accumulated at the Charleston International Airport.

The event is responsible for 19 deaths, 500 traffic accidents, and a power outage that reached 30,000 people.
