Wintry weather blasts parts of Nova Scotia
A blast of wintry weather made for some slippery driving conditions Monday as a storm dumped significant snowfall on parts of the province.
The storm started on Sunday and warnings remained in effect Monday morning for Victoria, Inverness, Antigonish and Pictou counties, as well as northern Colchester County.
Those regions were expecting 25 to 40 centimetres of snow. Winds were also expected to gust up to 90 kilometres an hour, causing blowing snow.

Environment Canada said the snow would continue to fall throughout Monday over northeastern portions of mainland Nova Scotia and into Monday evening over western Cape Breton.
The national weather forecaster warned that strong winds combined with the freshly fallen snow and dipping temperatures would reduce visibility while driving.

Many schools in the province were closed or had their opening delayed.
The high winds cancelled all ferry crossings between Wood Islands, P.E.I., and Caribou, N.S., on Monday. The 7:30 a.m. sailing out of Wood Islands and the 8:30 a.m. sailing out of Caribou was also cancelled for Tuesday.
