See it: Boulders collide with trucks in Peru

Thankfully, the drivers involved were not injured.

Terrifying footage from Peru is making the rounds on social media. It features dashcam footage recorded by one of two trucks hit by giant boulders during a landslide in the San Mateo district on Saturday.

As the boulder crashed into the cargo area of the first truck, it violently flipped the vehicle sideways, trapping the driver inside. The driver in the car behind hit the brakes, avoiding a similar collision as a boulder landed perilously close to his truck. That driver was able to evacuate his cabin as more rocks crashed onto the mountainside roadway.

Authorities sprang into action, closing off access to the affected road stretch between Casapalca and Corcona. It took the National Police four hours to inspect the site and clear the debris.

The roads were eventually re-opened, but only after a second rockslide occurred in the same area.
