PHOTOS: Wild storms with ferocious 100 km/h winds sweep through Ontario
Monday evening was quite eventful in Ontario, with a tornado warning in the northern portion while parts of the south were hit with damaging 100 km/h winds from a line of severe storms.
The start of meteorological fall is just days away, but summer isn't ready to wind down in Ontario just yet.
This was strongly evident on Monday as a line of of severe thunderstorms rolled through southern and northern Ontario, prompting a tornado warning in the Timmins region briefly in the evening.
The storms left a more visible mark in the south end after severe cells with 100 km/h winds roared through Windsor, Sarnia and nearby communities. There were reports of fallen trees and even hydro poles in multiple places in the southwest.
The tornado threat was also present in eastern sections of the province, but diminished in the evening.
Through the overnight hours, the cold front will slice through the Great Lakes, allowing storms to continue into early Tuesday morning. The storm threat will then redevelop further east on Tuesday, as instability builds over eastern Ontario and Quebec while cooler air filters into the Great Lakes.
Once the storms started firing up, it didn't take long for people to post visuals of the wicked weather on social media. Below is a selection of photos and videos making the rounds so far.
