Residents in parts of Ontario woke up to ice and snow Thursday, with forecasters looking ahead to a bigger storm this weekend.

Some school buses were cancelled, and traffic was slow-moving during the morning commute, thanks to the fast-moving, albeit messy, system.

The slippery conditions prompted advisories in some communities, warning of the potential of hard-to-detect ice building up on surfaces, potentially making walking and commuting dangerous.
