Freezing rain forces cancellation of school buses in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent

Freezing rain is expected to transition to snow by midday, say forecasters

Ice build up from freezing rain has forced transportation officials with school boards in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent to cancel bus service for students in all zones on Tuesday.

Schools remain open despite the bus cancellations.

A freezing rain warning was issued by Environment Canada Monday night anticipating the slippery conditions.

The freezing rain is expected to transition to rain or snow near midday Tuesday, as temperatures rise above zero, the agency said in a statement.
