Strong M7.3 earthquake strikes off coast of Chiapas, Mexico
So far, there are no damage or injury reports.
A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck 48 km southwest of Aquiles Serdán, Mexico, on Friday at 9:48 a.m. local time, according to the USGS.
It occurred at a depth of 15.2 km and has affected parts of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico and has raised the tsunami threat in Guatemala and Mexico.
There is no elevated tsunami threats impacting Canada as a result of the quake.
There are no official damage or injury reports yet, but reports on social media suggest buildings were seen shaking in Guatemala.

Since the initial quake, there have been five aftershocks measuring at least M5.0.
