Alberta: Winter refuses to loosen its grip, snow and icy mix
Just when it seemed like spring was on the side of the Prairies, a moisture-laden system threatens to spread more snow.
The spring roller coaster continues for Alberta, as last week's record warmth has given way to a swath of snow and freezing rain. Some spots through the central part of the province could be looking at more than 20 cm of snow by the time things taper off on Wednesday. More on who stands to see the most snow and how some icy conditions may impact travel for parts of the region through early Wednesday, below.

WINTER'S STUBBORN FIGHT
Winter isn't done with Alberta just yet as a moisture-packed system from B.C. pushes eastward through Wednesday, bringing snow to the central and southern foothills and into parts of central Alberta.
Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for the region with a band of heavy precipitation expected to form, although highly elevation dependent.
"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow," warns Environment Canada.
Bursts of snow will impact Calgary Tuesday overnight into Wednesday morning, but the heaviest snow will fall across the central and northern foothills with between 10-15 cm possible by the time all is said and done.
"Areas such as Jasper, for example, could be hit even harder, with up to 15 cm of spring snow possible," the Weather Network's Jaclyn Whittal says.
By late Wednesday, high pressure builds back into the region, although colder than normal temperatures dominate the second half of the week.
"Milder air will briefly spread across the region during the weekend ahead of another shot of colder weather as we head into next week, which marks the first week of April," adds Dr. Doug Gillham, another meteorologist at The Weather Network.
