Wet system set to bring Montreal its rainiest spell since December
Expect steady waves of rain to wash over southern Quebec through much of this weekend
A strengthening storm moving into the eastern half of Canada will slide a solid slug of rain into Quebec for the final weekend of April.
Widespread rain will arrive Friday evening and linger into Sunday evening, likely bringing Montreal its heaviest round of rainfall since the middle of December.
Fortunately, conditions should clear out in time for election day on Monday.

Soggy weather on the way for southern Quebec
A low-pressure system tracking through the Great Lakes will arrive in Quebec to end the week, pushing a batch of steady rain into the province heading into this weekend.
Rain will start in western Quebec during the overnight hours Friday, moving into the Eastern Townships and Montreal through Saturday morning.

The heaviest rain will arrive in Montreal on Saturday afternoon and continue through the evening before lightening up on Saturday night.
That won’t be the end of it, though. A secondary push of moisture will allow the rainfall to pick up again Sunday morning and continue through the day before tapering off by the evening.

We’ll see the steady rainfall add up throughout the region. Forecasters expect widespread rainfall totals on the order of 30-40 mm throughout most of southern Quebec, with up to 50 mm possible at higher elevations.
As a result, Montreal is on track for its heaviest round of rainfall since Dec. 11, 2024, when the city recorded 29 mm of rain.
