Warmth abound! Parts of Ontario in for a June-like night in March

Saturday’s overnight temperatures will come in around where you’d expect the nighttime low to fall in the middle of June

Warm weather is spilling across southern Ontario this weekend as a potent Colorado low sweeps active weather into the Great Lakes region.

Clouds, rain, and even some thunderstorms will accompany the system across the area. We’re also on the lookout for unseasonably warm temperatures—which could approach June-like levels on Saturday night.

Low-Pressure System Satellite

This hulking low-pressure system over the western Great Lakes on Saturday left a mess in its wake after developing over the central U.S. on Friday. Multiple rounds of deadly thunderstorms, an intense wildfire outbreak, and a prolific dust storm followed the low north this weekend.

Southerly winds spilling across the border into southern Ontario have pushed above-seasonal temperatures into the region on Saturday.

Things aren’t going to cool down much through the overnight hours.

Nighttime low temperatures in the lower teens are expected across a wide swath of southern Ontario, with the focus on the Greater Toronto Area and the Niagara region.

Some communities like Hamilton and Burlington will see overnight readings register as much as 18 degrees above seasonal.

These are the average low temperatures you’d expect to see in the middle of June rather than the middle of March.

It’s spring, after all, and temperatures won’t remain this warm for long. A cold front pushing into the region will send daytime high temperatures back into the mid-single digits by Monday, with variable temperatures expected through the upcoming week.
