The department is warning motorists to avoid Route 510, the section of the highway in southern Labrador, because they will not be able to cross it.

Support posts along the highway are hovering in the air, after the road beneath washed away.

Government crews were on site Monday morning to assess the damage.

The department said crews will be able to assess the situation once water levels recede.
