Stormy weather returns to start Ontario’s Victoria Day long weekend
Parts of Ontario could see stormy weather continue into Saturday, with risks of hail, strong winds and heavy rain this Victoria Day long weekend.
If you're hoping for beautiful skies over the Victoria Day holiday weekend, the weather may have other plans for you.
Many folks across southern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area likely woke up to a lightning show and thunder early Friday morning as a warm front swept through the region, triggering early-morning storms.

And Ontarians can expect more storms to emerge Friday Overnight throughout eastern Ontario, the supercell thunderstorms will make their way northeast, eventually moving into southern Quebec.
Saturday could feel like déjà vu
A stronger system is anticipated Friday overnight and into Saturday morning, upping the risk of severe weather across southwestern Ontario. Folks across the GTA may wake up thinking it's Friday morning all over again as the storms are forecast to reach the area by the pre-dawn hours Saturday morning.
Strong winds and large hail remain the main threats with these storms, especially from Windsor to London, where we could have strong winds and larger hail.
One key difference is that Saturday's thunderstorm risk will be more widespread than Friday's due to the stormy low being centred over the Great Lakes. The low is expected to spin up multiple rounds of heavy downpours and lightning-filled storms throughout the day.

By the afternoon, the risk for stormy weather will have shifted northward into cottage country and eastern Ontario.
The long weekend may not be a total washout across the province, however, as Sunday is forecast to dry up--although cloudy skies and lingering unsettled weather could still dampen the day.
Temperatures are also expected to fall back toward seasonal on Sunday and Monday, with highs forecast in the mid to low-teens.
Nonetheless, forecasters urge anyone with outdoor plans over the weekend to be weather-aware this weekend and be prepared to adjust.
