Rural Manitoba municipality declares state of emergency after massive downpours
Parts of Manitoba received well in excess of 100 mm of rainfall over the course of the system, which lingered into Monday from the weekend.
A southern Manitoba community was forced to declare a state of emergency Monday after passing storms dropped extreme rainfall on the region.
The Rural Municipality of Stuartburn made the declaration after heavy rainfall over the weekend lingered into Monday evening.
Reeve David Kiansky told the Canadian Press the deluges had flooded several roads, and he "expected that some people will be stranded."

The slow-moving storms resulted in total accumulations well in excess of 100 mm over the course of the system in the southeast of the province, with Winnipeg, outside of the range of the storms, only receiving 24 mm.
The Manitoba government had flood watches in effect for the southeast at the time of the storms, as well as the northwest.
