Severe storm, funnel cloud risk tracks into southern Manitoba Tuesday
Severe thunderstorms are possible later Tuesday, including the risk of large hail, strong gusts, funnel clouds, and even a tornado.
The same low-pressure system that flooded parts of central Alberta over the weekend is now making its way east across the Prairies into Manitoba.
High, convective energy in the atmosphere above southern Manitoba will help to fuel thunderstorms late Tuesday afternoon and evening as the low-pressure system makes its way into the province.

Rainfall warnings issued, severe storm chance in Manitoba
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has already issued rainfall warnings for communities west of Lake Manitoba, where we have already seen soaking rains saturate the ground.

"Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas," ECCC states in their warning. "Local utility outages are possible. Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas such as steep slopes, deforested areas or recent burn scars."

In addition to widespread 20-30 mm rains, it's likely some of these storms will reach severe parameters. Dime to quarter-sized hail and damaging 60-80 km/h wind gusts are also a threat forecasters are keeping an eye on. The main focus for forecasters, however, will be the funnel cloud and landspout tornado threats.
As the system shifted into Saskatchewan on Monday, multiple funnel clouds were observed by spotters, including a potential landspout tornado just outside of Saskatoon.
Be sure to keep an eye out for any new watches, warnings, or alerts that may be issued throughout the afternoon and evening.
