A frequent setup for storms that has marked much of July for the Prairies is in play this week. Tuesday will see the chance shift onto the eastern Prairies, extending into northwestern Ontario where stronger storms are possible. There may even be funnel clouds. Tuesday: Severe storm threat includes funnel cloud chance for some

After a line of thunderstorms developed in southern Manitoba late Monday night, there is the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday.

The storms are forecast to be weaker than what was seen on Monday as there is less energy in the atmosphere. However, there is the possibility of some storms becoming stronger in eastern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario with small hail.

Along with the storms, colder air aloft is expected to come into the region, helping storms quickly develop. This could lead to the development of funnel clouds.

Looking ahead, scattered showers and thunderstorms will linger into Thursday for eastern Manitoba with cooler than seasonal temperatures. Meanwhile, Alberta may see a more stormy pattern return by Friday, then spanning across the region next week.
