Quebec Thursday 3 pm precipitation timing

Expect flurries to begin by the afternoon, and will then become heavier by the early-afternoon commute. Roads will be slippery during this time, so travellers can expect delays and slowdowns.

Commuters in and around Montreal should ensure their vehicles are prepared for winter weather driving.

Accumulations won't be excessive by any means, but they will be high enough to disrupt travel. Widespread totals of 5-10 cm are expected.

Conditions will then ease by Friday morning, with some flurries lingering in the region. With 50+ km/h wind gusts on Friday, there could be some blowing snow and further travel slowdowns during that time.

Conditions will turn colder for Friday and Saturday, with wind chills in the -10 to -20s.

As well, a Colorado low is expected to track south of the region Saturday night with widespread, significant snow into Sunday morning.

Temperatures will be very cold for a few days early next week. Colder-than-normal temperatures are expected to dominate during mid-February. The pattern will stay active.

It is too early to know if that will mean substantial snow or if the storm track will be too far south of the region much of the time, but the pattern appears to be favourable for a couple of significant snowfalls during mid-month.
