Quebec braces for more rain with a flood and severe storm risk
A multi-day rain event is underway in Quebec, keeping the flood threat high, accompanied by a threat of severe storms on Monday.
Folks across southern Quebec will continue to contend with a risk for flooding on Monday as heavy rain lingers over the region.
Localized flooding and ponding will remain a concern from the additional heavy rain, which could be accompanied by severe storms on Monday in parts of Quebec.
Remember, never try to drive across a flooded roadway. It’s impossible to tell how deep the water is until it’s too late, and it only takes a small amount of moving water to lift a vehicle downstream.

Flood and severe storm risk on Monday
Parts of Quebec have already seen 70-100 mm of rain in the past few days, leaving the ground saturated and unable to absorb much additional precipitation.
Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are forecast across southern Quebec on Monday.
The prime time for severe weather will be in the afternoon to early evening, with the main threats including torrential rain and flooding, and strong or damaging winds.
However, models are hinting that there is also an isolated risk for supercells or rotation.
Areas just east and south of Montreal should be on high alert and be ready to head indoors should severe storms threaten.
High moisture in the atmosphere will act like a rich reservoir for showers and storms to tap into, increasing the threat for torrential rainfall and localized flooding.
The heaviest rainfall will be north of the St. Lawrence River.
Island of Montreal: 10-20+ mm
Areas along the St. Lawrence, and extending up to 75 km north and south of it: 30-50+mm
Area farther northeast: 75-100+ mm
Beware the risk for urban flash flooding in the Montreal area during and immediately after slow-moving thunderstorms.
