Another round of unsettled weather is expected early next week, with already saturated ground raising concerns

A powerful windstorm hit British Columbia early Sunday, knocking out power for tens of thousands of BC Hydro customers.

The strongest gust was recorded on Solander Island, where winds reached 130 km/h. Sartine Island recorded 111 km/h, while Howe Sound saw gusts of up to 92 km/h.

Strong winds also hit inland communities, including Prince George, where gusts reached 80 km/h and Abbotsford, which recorded 72 km/h.

Another atmospheric river targets B.C. next week

Forecasters are now keeping an eye out for another strong system that is expected to hit B.C. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The system may bring more heavy rain, strong winds, and higher-elevation snowfall.

With the ground already saturated from the weekend's rainfall, additional precipitation may heighten the risk of localized flooding and landslides.
