
PHOTOS: Twin tornadoes, hail spotted in Manitoba amid volatile storms
A stormy Tuesday in southern Manitoba led to numerous tornado warnings throughout the afternoon and evening, with multiple reports and one video showing that at least two twisters occurred. The storms also brought large hail, heavy downpours and blustery wind gusts
Tuesday was an active day in southern Manitoba.
A shortwave trough moving across southern Manitoba and North Dakota created supercell development, with storms on both sides of the border. The result in Manitoba was hours of tornado warnings and reports of large hail, downpours and strong winds, as well as power outages.
And there is video evidence of at least two tornadoes occurring.

Thunderstorms first initiated in the U.S. before moving into southwestern Manitoba on Tuesday afternoon. It didn't take long for the storms to intensify and enter the Canadian side of the border.
Wind shear and steep lapse rates supported the storms, which quickly prompted severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings. The storms produced large hail, with some areas seeing golf- and tennis ball-sized stones.

Numerous tornado warnings were issued, with one video popping up that clearly showed two twisters occurring at the same time, south of Carman, Man., within a short distance from each other.
As well, video footage of a possible funnel cloud or tornado east of Manitou, Man., appeared online, and there were additional reports of possible twister occurrences near Deerwood, Moosehorn, Carman, the Lake Winnipeg area, and Miami, Man.
Isolated storms then evolved into widespread clusters in the early evening, then tracked through Winnipeg, and across the Interlake and eastern regions.
Conditions stabilized after the system passes, marking the end of the current extreme heat.
