A stormy Tuesday swept through southern Manitoba, triggering multiple tornado warnings across the afternoon and evening. Officials have confirmed at least three tornadoes touched down during the event. The severe storms also delivered large hail, intense downpours, and strong wind gusts
Tuesday was an active day in southern Manitoba.
A shortwave trough moving across southern Manitoba and North Dakota created supercell development, with storms on both sides of the border. The result in Manitoba was hours of tornado warnings and reports of large hail, downpours and strong winds, as well as power outages.
Officials have confirmed at least three tornadoes touched down.

The first tornado was confirmed near Manitou, Man. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) received a report of the tornado through video posted on social media; however, there have been no reports of damage at this time.
Two additional tornadoes were confirmed near Carman at approximately 5:15 p.m. CDT.
ECCC also received a report of a potential tornado roughly 10 km southeast of Dauphin. Currently, there is not enough evidence to confirm the occurrence of a tornado, and meteorologists are continuing their investigation into the report.

Thunderstorms first initiated in the U.S. before moving into southwestern Manitoba on Tuesday afternoon. It didn't take long for the storms to intensify and enter the Canadian side of the border.
Wind shear and steep lapse rates supported the storms, which quickly prompted severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings.
The storms produced large hail, with some areas seeing golf- and tennis ball-sized stones.
