Three tornadoes confirmed after fierce storms slam Saskatchewan

Several tornadoes were confirmed after powerful storms swept southern Saskatchewan Tuesday evening.

The severe weather came into Saskatchewan fast and furious Tuesday evening, with multiple tornado warnings issued over the course of several hours.

It didn't take long for social media to explode with the photos and videos of the tornadoes as the storms rolled through. A twister developed near D'Arcy, and as the storm travelled east, it produced multiple tornadoes near Fiske, McGee, and eventually near Rosetown.

On Wednesday, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) confirmed three tornadoes took place during the severe weather event: One EF0 tornado in D'Arcy, and two tornadoes at McGee, which were not given a rating by the agency.

ECCC also says a rotating severe thunderstorm fuelled a straight-line wind event in Zealandia, with estimated winds up to 135 km/h. The impact included downed power lines, snapped trees, and some damage to a coverall at a farm.
