Ontario: Snow showers threaten multiple days this week
The beginning of March will feature warmer temperatures, but with periods of unsettled weather as well.
The unsettled conditions will continue across southern Ontario on Tuesday as a low pressure system tracks along the Great Lakes and brings periods of rain and even wet snow. The good news is that this precipitation will be light and many areas will continue to see improving conditions through the mid-week mark. The next interruption however, comes as soon as Friday, as a clipper system tracks through the region, threatening another quick coating of snow. More details and timing, below.

TUESDAY: LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW PUSH THROUGH
While a few degrees cooler than what Monday saw, Tuesday will still bring another day of above seasonal temperatures, though with more rain persisting through the afternoon and evening hours. There's also the chance for a mix of wet snow, especially for areas along the escarpment north of the 401 and 407.
In North Bay through to Ottawa and across cottage country, the light snow will, at times, be mixed with rain and ice pellets during the evening hours before the system gradually exits the region.
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY: TEMPERATURES CLIMB WELL ABOVE SEASONAL
Wednesday and Thursday are shaping up to be the warmest days of the week, with highs bumping into the upper single digits, particularly in the southwest where temperatures could exceed 5°C.
In fact, the first two weeks of March may disprove the old "in like a lion" adage, with above-zero daytime highs expected for most places, as Arctic air stays very firmly in the Arctic.

FRIDAY: SNOW SHOWERS DEVELOP, BACK TO SUNNY AND SEASONAL BY SATURDAY
A temperature drop, closer to seasonal values, is expected across much of the region by Friday.
"Wet snow will develop Thursday night as a clipper tracks through the Great Lakes region with a coating of snow possible on grassy surfaces across the region," says Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham, adding that occassional snow showers will continue through Friday along with a brisk wind.
Sunshine and near seasonal temperatures are expected to return for Saturday and Sunday, as the above seasonal conditions persist into early next week.
