Rainfall amounts will be quite heavy for coastal sections, with alpine snow in the higher terrain.

There is the chance for a rumble or two along the coast on Thursday, but come Friday, the risk increases to also include the Interior, with more instability in play.

B.C. rainfall accumulation through Friday

Rain through Friday could total 30-50+mm in the Lower Mainland and 100+ mm for western Vancouver Island. Localized flooding will be a concern.

Meanwhile, freezing levels will hover around 1000 metres, leading to significant alpine snow accumulation of 50-75 cm. Expect difficult travel along the highway passes.

As a result of the rain and snow, there is also a heightened danger of avalanches, in addition to the flooding risk.

B.C. alpine snowfall through Friday

Additional precipitation will return to the region on Sunday, after a break on Saturday, with the potential for an atmospheric river also setting up on Monday. Temperatures will begin to trend milder early next week, as well, increasing flood concerns with snowmelt and the persistent precipitation.
