Sunshine makes a triumphant return in Quebec after grey start to December
After a gloomy start to the month for most of Quebec, there is a reprieve on the horizon
It's been a grey December so far for many in Quebec, however this weekend, a brief reprieve is on the horizon.
Sunshine will break through the monotonous grey clouds this weekend, bringing some temporary relief to the gloomy weather.
A long awaited return
It appears that the sun has been in hiding for much of the month across the province. Between December 1 and 11, out of an estimated 98 hours of possible sunlight - the sun only appeared over 17.6 hours, meaning that the sun has been hidden behind the clouds for 82 per cent of the month so far.
Given the glorious autumn sunshine, the lack of sun has prominent, given that the shortest days of the year are happening now.
All this is changing this weekend, as the sun will shine brightly over Quebec for much of the weekend. The abundant sunshine will start on Friday for a majority of the province, but especially in southern Quebec. Saturday will be much the same, with the sun shining from Val-d'Or to Gaspé.

Don't expect mild temperatures to go with the sunshine though, temperatures will be below seasonal for much of the weekend.
However, the return of the sunshine is short lived - a low-pressure system will arrive into southern parts of the province after Sunday, bringing clouds back to dominate the southern portions of the province.
