Mild boost will melt away Manitoba's winter, first 20-degree day possible
Double-digits on deck as Manitoba’s spring surge begins
Despite a relatively benign winter season with no major weather extremes, much of southern and central Manitoba has yet to see any consistent mild or double-digit temperatures to date.
Winnipeg has reached the double-digit mark once this year, seeing temperatures just briefly rise to 11.5°C back on March 26.
DON'T MISS: Sorry, Manitoba: We really do love you
That's about to change this week however, with some areas in line to see warming temperatures rise over the coming days.
The first chance for a double-digit day will span the extreme south on Wednesday. By Thursday, a more widespread warm-up occurs, with the first 15°C daytime high of the year for the province expected.

Friday looks to be the warmest day of this warm up, where it’s possible for highs to top the 20-degree mark for the first time this year.

The best chances will be across the southwest, including the community of Melita.

Brandon may come close to 20°C, as well, which would certainly feel like a significant mild boost. The warmest temperature of the year so far in the city was only 7.5°C on April 8. The next 'warmest' being 6.5°C on March 26.
Brandon's record for the earliest 20°C day is March 16, 2012, while the latest recorded was on May 26, 1996.

This mild spell will likely melt all the remaining snow in southern Manitoba, and some of the snow in the Interlake Region, as well.

It is only mid-April however, so remember not to get too comfortable just yet. Much colder weather will spread across the region during the weekend, turning rather chilly on Sunday and into early next week. Another shot of cold air arrives later next week, as well.
