
Will more snow follow this heavy rain in Ontario?
Southern and eastern Ontario will experience several rounds of rainfall this week, leading to a wet few days. A shift to cooler temperatures will follow, bringing the potential for snow in some areas
Ontario has seen a dynamic spring so far, and it’s not over yet.
Early in the week, rain systems are set to sweep across northern and southern areas. In the wake of these systems, a few snowflakes may make an appearance in some parts of the province, as well.

Rain, thunder, and gusty winds spread across southern Ontario Tuesday
With the snowpack finally melting across northern Ontario, many communities are seeing an increased flood risk. Much of northeastern and eastern Ontario remains under widespread flood warnings, while the Thunder Bay and Wawa-Sault Ste. Marie areas around Lake Superior are under flood watches.

In northern Ontario, ongoing rainfall, heavy at times, will continue through Tuesday. Rain and snow will then push towards northeastern sections by the afternoon, with totals of 10-20+ mm expected.
Travellers should keep an eye out for any new flood alerts or highway/road closures, as much of the region is under a flood warning due to the spring snowmelt.
The rains will also make their way into southern Ontario early Tuesday, with scattered thunderstorms potentially producing locally heavy rain.

Wind gusts of 50–70+ km/h are expected, particularly near the lakeshore.
More rain hits Wednesday, but with a snow risk creeping in for some
Tuesday marks the last milder day in southern Ontario before below-seasonal temperatures move in Wednesday.

A second low pressure system will track through eastern Lake Ontario and into Quebec later Wednesday.
Rain begins in the morning for Lake Erie, the GTHA, and Niagara, spreading eastward by evening. Heavier rainfall is likely for eastern Ontario, with totals of 30–50+ mm by Thursday morning.

Cooler air follows this system, bringing much colder conditions for Friday into the weekend.
Scattered wet snowflakes mixed with rain are possible over higher terrain Friday, with wrap-around snow expected for western Quebec and eastern Ontario into Saturday.

Overnight lows will dip below 0°C Saturday and Sunday night across parts of southern Ontario, with near-freezing conditions for the GTA.
