An active pattern that produced widespread severe weather over the weekend will continue into Monday across the eastern Prairies and northwestern Ontario.

Monday’s storms could produce all hazards
A strengthening jet stream, high instability, and rich moisture streaming in from the south will all serve to fuel multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms across southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario to start the week.

Expect storms to begin around Brandon and Winnipeg during the late-morning to around lunchtime as a cold front slices into abundant thunderstorm energy parked over the region.
We’ll see severe thunderstorm activity shift east into northwestern Ontario as the day wears on.

The corridor of greatest severe potential exists around Winnipeg, where some storms may begin to rotate. Pay close attention to watches and warnings as this threat unfolds.
Monday’s storms could produce all modes of severe weather. On top of the tornado risk, we may see large hail, damaging wind gusts, and very heavy rainfall.
