IN PHOTOS: Scary skies over southern Ontario as storms roll through

Some storms turned severe as they moved across southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area Friday afternoon.

A week of heat and humidity is ending with a bang, as strong thunderstorms fired up over the course of the afternoon in southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area.

Severe thunderstorm watches covered much of the region, including parts of the GTA, turning severe here and there as storms crossed that threshold.

The main feature of these storms, aside from some scary-looking skies, has been heavy downpours, with localized flooding reported here and there. The flipside is that the passing cold front will bring temperatures down

Below is a selection of shots of the storms as they passed.
