Hello, brighter days! Toronto’s sunshine this week is a first in 140 days
Toronto is starting to make up for the lack of sunshine this winter, with this week possibly bringing the longest stretch of mainly-clear conditions since October 2024
If you've noticed it has been a while since Toronto has had this much sunshine, you've been paying close attention.
Toronto has been enjoying more sunshine in recent days, a trend that has been hard to come by this winter. In fact, this winter has been the city's windiest in 15 years, a season that has also yielded a few snowstorms and multiple bouts of frigid cold.

As of now, we are in the midst of Toronto's sunniest stretch of weather since mid-October 2024.

It's been nearly five months since the city has been enjoying this much sunshine. Oct. 16-22 was the last period of mainly-clear conditions in Toronto.
Typically, winter sees less sunshine due to shorter daylight hours and active weather systems, which definitely rang true this season.
The city did enjoy some two- or three-day stretches sunshine since October, though––Dec. 12-14 and Nov. 7-9.

On that note, the city has failed to string together more than three days of mainly-sunny weather since October. But, that could change this week.
We've already documented mainly sunny conditions from March 8-10, and a tease of some warmer weather during the latter--with Pearson International Airport hitting 11.3 C on March 10. That was its first double-digit high since Dec. 29, 2024.

That mainly-clear pattern may continue for most of Tuesday. But, by the afternoon, a cold front will move in and bring a cooldown and cloud cover, clearing out by the evening time.

That will still give us the chance to average out as mainly sunny for the day. If it occurs, it would then become the sunniest stretch of weather since October.
Toronto can expect more instability and cloudier weather come Wednesday, with chillier temperatures, lingering into the weekend, as well, before we see another warm-up.
