Extreme fire danger persists in B.C. with wildfire smoke on the move
South Coast air quality is set to freefall on Tuesday as shifting winds pump in wildfire smoke.
B.C. continues bracing for the possibility of more wildfires in the coming days amid favourable conditions.
The province will see the return of dry and hot weather through this work week, and that stretch will maintain or elevate high and extreme fire danger ratings across the Interior.
With the spike of wildfires ongoing across B.C., more than 130 active blazes now pose concerns for poor quality, with smoke on the move towards the Lower Mainland.

Risk of new wildfires as dry conditions return
Although some rain was expected through Sunday, precipitation will quickly clear up heading into the new work week, allowing for another stretch of heat and dry weather for the Interior.
Increased wildfire smoke will move into southern portions of B.C. for Monday. Through Monday, areas that need the most rain will miss out.
As a result, air quality will worsen in impacted areas.
The incoming dry stretch will likely maintain or elevate high and extreme fire danger ratings across the Interior through this upcoming week.
