A fresh blanket of snow will precede the next shot of Arctic air for the Pacific coast

This will bring the chance for some scattered light snow for most of Vancouver Island, as well as snow flurries for the Lower Mainland.

The snow will start later Friday night and continue into Saturday, which could impact weekend travel at times. A widespread 3-5 cm is forecast.

Beyond this weekend, temperatures will remain colder-than-normal, especially across the Interior, where daytime highs plunge about 25°C below normal values.

We are watching the potential for a more active pattern during the second half of next week, and continuing through mid-February, as well. This will include a significant risk for wintry precipitation, and the potential for a high impact winter storm.

Temperatures should start to trend closer to seasonal during the second half of February.
