A low-pressure system approaching Quebec from the west will serve as the catalyst for the heavy snow expected to blanket the area during the day Monday.
Snow will quickly build into portions of southern Quebec around 3-4 p.m. on Monday afternoon. Heavy snows are expected to arrive during the evening commute, with snowfall rates approaching 3 cm per hour between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
This should remain an all-snow event for most of the region, with the greatest threat for freezing rain falling south of the St. Lawrence River.

We’ll see a sharp cutoff in accumulations as you move north. The southern edge of the Island of Montreal will likely see more than 10 cm of snow, with the risk for up to 15 cm of snow according to some computer model guidance.
Commuters in and around Montreal should ensure their vehicles are prepared for winter weather driving.
