British Columbia will soon be missing this key April trait

British Columbia's spring storm parade will be taking a brief intermission for the rest of the week.

After an above-average March for rainfall in British Columbia, we're finally looking at a break in showers into and through the first weekend of April.

2025 has started off on a rollercoaster of precipitation across B.C., with January seeing only 33 per cent of its average rainfall, February seeing near-normal monthly rainfall, and March seeing 127 per cent of its average rainfall.

March's wet and stormy weather was nothing to be too gloomy about, however, as spring rainfall is vital in preparing the province for the start of wildfire season.

On the flip side, Vancouver's airport has recorded 14 days straight of rainy weather, and the city has not seen more than a peak of the sun since March 6. What's worse, Vancouverites haven't seen any consecutively sunny days since mid-February.

Heading into April, we're finally seeing a brief light at the end of the tunnel as bright, pleasant weather returns to the South Coast on Wednesday.

Sunny days are ahead in B.C.

An area of high pressure will descend from the north and build across the West Coast on Wednesday afternoon. This will temporarily halt the parade of storms that have been bombarding the B.C. coast the past few weeks and usher in multiple days of sunny skies and warm temperatures.
