As of 6:30 a.m., school buses in all of London, Middlesex County, and the red zone are cancelled. Most schools remain open. School buses in Elgin and Oxford counties are still running and expected to start on schedule.

Jan 8, 2025: London, Ontario snowfall totals through Thursday morning.

The following schools are closed:

  • Valleyview Public School

  • Medway High School

  • Centennial Central Public School

  • Oxbow Public School

  • Wilberforce Public School

  • North Middlesex District High School

  • East Williams Memorial Public School

  • McGillivray Central Public School

  • Parkhill-West Williams Public School

  • EarlyON Centres and child care centres at these locations are closed.

  • Western University says all morning classes have been cancelled or moved online until 12:30 p.m. because of conditions on campus. A decision about afternoon classes will be made by 10 a.m., officials said.

  • Snow plows in the city are working to get main roads and bus routes plowed, but headway they made overnight has all but disappeared as heavy snow continues to fall, said Joel Gillard, the city of London manager in charge of road operations.

  • Some parts of the city got up to 25 cm of snow, particularly the southwest and northwest, Environment Canada said. That amount will double by this evening, meteorologists say.

  • Drivers are told to give plows and sanders extra room, and themselves extra time or to stay put.

"It's going to be a tough commute for people today and it's going to be a long process for our team to get things cleaned up," Gillard said at around 6 a.m. "I'm seeing toonie-sized snowflakes right now."
