
Atlantic: Humidity, thunderstorm risk close out the week
A high pressure system is reponsible for bringing the summer-like warmth and muggy conditions to Atlantic Canada this week.
The Atlantic region will be generally humid to close out the week, though with temperatures ranging from the low 30s in northern New Brunswick to the single digits for parts of Newfoundland -- though St. John's can look forward to the mid-20s. FRIDAY: WARMTH PERSISTS, SLIGHT STORM RISK IN NORTHERN NEW BRUNSWICK
Warm temperatures continue Friday across much of Atlantic Canada, though with some very uneven distribution.
In the Maritimes, much of Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick can expect daytime highs in the mid-20s, but extremes range from the mid-teens in the Yarmouth area up to a little above the 30-degree mark in northern New Brunswick.
Across the gulf, Newfoundland is even more of a contrast: From single-digits on the Great Northern Peninsula, to the toasty mid-20s for St. John's and Gander.

With the most heat in northern New Brunswick, it is there where the region has its best chance for thunderstorms Friday, though any storms that do pop up aren't expected to be as severe as Thursday.

THE WEEKEND: TEMPERATURES MODERATE, UNSETTLED CONDITIONS
Some relief will come by the weekend, however, thanks to a cold front tracking into the Maritimes that will stall. It will also bring a period of rain and thunderstorms, enhanced by a couple of systems tracking along the front.
Beyond the weekend, another system will develop over the Atlantic and track into the region early next week with the potential for a widespread soaking rain – potentially good news for the areas that have become rather dry. Cooler weather is also expected across the region during this time.
