Atlantic: Flood risk continues as cooler temperatures near
Heightened flood threat across Atlantic Canada with spring-like weather ahead.
Get ready for some spring-like conditions across Atlantic Canada, though with some soaking rains for Newfoundland. While many are happy that it a change from Febuary's snowy weather it comes at the cost of an increased snowmelt, which could result in some localized flooding. Rain continues throughout Sunday morning for Newfoundland
Heavy snowfall expected throughout Labrador

The rain has largely ended for the Maritimes, but Newfoundland is experiencing an especially soggy weekend, with rainfall warnings in effect for most of the island's south.
Those parts of the island could pick up an additional 5 to 30 mm of rain by the end of the weekend.
When coupled with the system's strong winds and relatively mild tempratures, substantial snowmelt may be in the cards, raising the risk of flooding.
"The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall," Environment Canada adds. "Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads."

Further north, some regions of Newfoundland could see up to 5 cm of snow, while regions of southeastern Labrador could see between 5 to 30 cm of snow.
BRIEF BUMP IN TEMPERATURES
The system that has caused the rise in temperatures even brought some warmth up north -- Thursday marked the first day that Happy Valley-Goose Bay saw temperatures above zero since December 23, 2018 -- though it will take quite a few more such days to make a dent in the community's 180-cm snowpack.
James from Happy Valley-Goose Bay captured the beautiful sunrise on March 15, 2019, just hours after 82 day streak of below-freezing temperatures was broken.
Further south, temperatures will fall just short of reaching seasonal temperatures by one or two degrees, which could make for icy conditions on roads and sidewalks.
