2023 ends with a bang: Atlantic Canada braces for freezing rain, snow & rainfall

2023's grand finale will bring a mix of active weather across the region

Looks like 2023 is wrapping up with a bit of active weather for many parts of Atlantic Canada.

Although precise details on precipitation amounts and locations are a bit up in the air, forecasters are confident there will be an impact on travel in the region.

An incoming system along the East Coast may kick off as rain in the Maritimes Thursday, but as colder air moves in overnight, we could see a narrow band of freezing rain.

ATL Friday

By Friday morning, Fredericton, Moncton, and parts of Nova Scotia might get slippery. Later on Friday, these areas could switch over to snow.

Freezing Rain

Now, the south coasts of Nova Scotia, especially Halifax, are a bit of a wild card. Some models suggest snow on Friday, while others insist on persistent rainfall throughout the event.
