What do an endangered penguin and 90s kids have in common? 'Pingu'

Get ready to fall in love with a little rare Penguin who is getting rehab at Perth Zoo.

Are you ready to be obsessed with Pierre?

Adorable little Pierre is currently living at the Perth Zoo in Australia, but he has journeyed all the way from islands in the Indian or South Atlantic Ocean. According to the Perth Zoo, he was found washed ashore in southwest Australia.

The long journey took a toll on the Northern Rockhopper Penguin, his feathers have moulting issues and aren't waterproof, so he can't go into the water.

Pierre is currently in rehab at the Perth Zoo. Since there are no other like penguins to play with him in rehab, the Zoo's team set him up with an iPad. And presumably, like everyone named Pierre, the wee penguin has great taste. He loves "Pingu", the incredible claymation series that sounds like it's voiced by nothing other than the hilarious gibberish of Robin Williams (it's not).

Aside from Pierre's contagious dance moves, he's also a super special guy, as rockhopper penguins extremely rare, with a global population of approximately less than 240,300 breeding pairs.

Eudyptes moseleyi is the fancy name for rockhoppers, who getting their everyday name from...well, hopping around rocks. Though the name may not be too original, the species is, as most penguins prefer to spend their days sliding belly-down on ice.
