Feel like you're seeing more spiders this fall? Here's why

Ever wondered why spiders seem to be everywhere in the fall? It's not just because it's spooky season.

It's fall, and that means spooky decor is making an appearance.

And if you’ve noticed more spiders around, they aren't showing up because they're getting into the Halloween spirit.

As temperatures drop, spiders' survival instincts activate, prompting them to seek food and warmth to survive beyond the first frost.

They are relocating and rebuilding their webs in new hunting areas that might be more visible to you. Like, those high-ceiling corners that you can’t quite reach with the vacuum… And as food becomes scarce, some species spin even larger webs.

And if the spiders seem larger? You are not imagining things. After hatching in the spring, spiders hit maturity in fall, and larger spiders tend to survive longer, making them easier to notice.

And have you noticed more of the eight-legged arachnids crawling around? It's mating season, so males are searching for partners to lay eggs that will hatch into hundreds of babies in spring! Fun!
