Unique website allows you to whale watch without leaving land
British Columbia's waters are home to numerous whale species, and there are a series of locations inland where they can be seen without you setting foot on a boat and potentially disturbing their habitat
There are 25 different species of whales that live in the waters off the coast of British Columbia, and right now is a great time to try and spot them because migrant species are making their way back north.
But, guess what? You don't have to leave the comfort of dry and solid land to try and see a whale in the ocean...you just need a bit of luck and maybe some inside information on where to look.
The Whale Trail is a series of websites to view marine mammals from shore along the Pacific Coast. There is an interactive map containing more than 100 spots along the West Coast -- from British Columbia to California -- where whales are frequently seen.
Also, if you do spot a whale in the ocean, you should report it on the WhaleReport app because it can actually help save its life.
