26 power lines collapse around couple, crushing their car
Wind has been named as a possible cause.
A Washington State couple is miraculously alive after more than two dozen power lines collapsed around their car Friday.
Tom Cook tells CNN he was driving in his SUV with his wife Linda when one pole fell, causing a chain reaction that brought other poles down.
They sustained only cuts and bruises in what could have been a fatal accident.
Tom says the poles "couldn't have picked a more perfect place to hit," adding the point of impact -- directly in between the couple -- is likely what saved their lives.
"If it had hit the glass rather than the roof it would have just come through," he says.

"And the firefighters said the same thing, had it hit to the left or the right, it would have come down on one of us."
CNN reports a "frantic" rescue effort ensued, with emergency responders rushing to de-activate live wire lines.
In 31 years of marriage, the Cooks say they've never been through anything that compares to their recent ordeal.
"It wasn't my time," Linda says.
"I decided I wanted to live to be 100."
WIND A POSSIBLE CAUSE
Engineers spent the weekend examining the site, looking for what may have caused the poles to crash.
A 2016 inspection of the power lines indicated some were due for replacement within the next five years, the Seattle Times reports, but Seattle City Light CEO Debra Smith told the publication "there were none that were outside of the identified life span."
Officials are also looking at the weather conditions at the time of the incident and haven't ruled out the possibility of a strong micro-burst of wind being the cause.
