Photos: Rows of abandoned Disney-style castles in Turkey
The Burj al Babas is an abandoned housing development consisting of hundreds of Disney-style castles in Mudurnu, Turkey.
The site was intended to be a luxury neighborhood that included a hotel and a shopping mall. Some of the 732 available homes were purchased by wealthy foreign buyers for $400,000 and $500,000 U.S. dollars.

Delays in obtaining permits pushed up building costs, and work on the $200-million project was put on hold in 2018.

Some buyers have filed lawsuits against the developers, who filed for bankruptcy. They were granted a reprieve in February 2019, when creditors voted to allow the cash-strapped company to complete work on the project.
