Hung up about B.C.'s strawberry fields: How weather altered the season
Here's how some British Columbia farmers are making sure their strawberry season lasts through the hot summer months.
Strawberry season has arrived in B.C., but this year some farmers are facing a set of unique challenges. Farmers in Abbotsford, for example, have had to deal with some warmer and drier conditions compared with last year -- meaning they have had to adjust their farms and crops to accommodate.
After a few late winter storms, farmers actually thought the strawberry season would be delayed, but the warm temperatures helped turn that around and get things back on track. The only problem with that is that it ended up leading to some problems on the opposite end.

According to Amir Maan, the Field Operations Manager at Maan Farms, the farms in the area have their own wells, and while last year they didn't really have to tap into them, this year's weather conditions forced them to use those wells to keep their fields moist.
