Three foods getting more expensive in 2024: here's how weather plays a role

Canadians can expect to pay more for food in the months to come.

The 14th edition of Canada's food price report is now live, and analysts at Dalhousie University say food prices could increase by as much as 4.5 per cent overall in 2024.

While that increase is lower than past years, it does mean a typical family of four could be paying up to $700 more for food, of $16,000 total, by the end of next year.

Droughts and extreme weather are impacting three foods in particular.
